Aino Aalto, the Aalto House and the elastic standardization

Aino Marsio, the Finnish rationalist architect and designer, graduated from Helsinki University of Technology 1920. A couple of years sooner than meeting the future husband Alvar Aalto, her career paths led her through several design projects,and eventually to being employed in Aalto studio as an architect. However, her talent and skills were transcending architecture and exploring various forms of design. Maybe that is why separating the roles and contribution of the Aalto spouses in their common projects is equally as hard as describing their masterworks without reinventing the wheel.
