Part 1: The foundation of the group and its place” A widespread disenchantment with the political and economic system motivated the global social movements that began in May 1968 in Paris. In this climate, the first projects for alternative community life emerged in the United States in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Foremost among them are the Drop City, whose architectural definition was determined by the geodesic domes designed by Buckminster Fuller, and Arcosanti, founded as an urban laboratory by its architect, Paolo Soleri. El desencanto generalizado con el sistema político y económico motivó los movimientos sociales de alcance global iniciados en mayo de 1968 en París. En este clima, surgen en Estados Unidos los primeros proyectos de vida comunitaria alternativa a finales de los 60s y principios de los 70s. Entre ellas destacan la Drop City , en cuya definición arquitectónica fueron determinantes las cúpulas geodésicas ideadas por Buckminster Fuller, y Arcosanti, fundada como un laboratorio urbano por su arquitecto, Paolo Soleri. Almost simultaneously, a group of architects and professors from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso created the Open City in a beautiful coastal spot in Ritoque, Chile.
