Can Geroni

Architect Erik Christian Sorensen designed a simple house for the Hasselbalchs between 1963 and 1964. The house was built on a single floor and divided into two main modules which were connected externally by a covered pergola over a courtyard open to the sea. It seems that the indications for the property were partly inspired by a beach hotel they had visited. Sorensen built the house on the edge of the cliff platform 25 metres above the sea with views over the sea. Can Geroni is organised in an “L” shape, with the living room, dining room and kitchen in a forward position with respect to the sea and the five bedrooms arranged behind a large portico that opens onto the sea through a large terrace. In one corner of the open courtyard there is a tower with a water cistern and a shower after the baths in the sea, which is accessed by metal stairs on the cliff walls. The house is closed off to the street side with small windows with shutters and opens up to the cliff side. Can Geroni se organiza con forma de “L”, con el cuerpo de sala, comedor y cocina en posición adelantada respecto al el mar y el cuerpo con los cinco dormitorios organizados tras un gran pórtico que se abre a través de una amplia terraza al mar. En una esquina del patio abierto se inserta una torre con una cisterna de agua y una ducha tras los baños en el mar, al que se accede por escalerillas metálicas sobre las paredes del acantilado.
