The mild temperatures, some days even warm, have been prolonged beyond what custom would dictate as reasonable. In an admirable act of resistance, the summer has already taken up the first part of autumn with hardly any let-up in its time-conquering efforts. Yesterday, however, the sky threw down precipitation throughout the afternoon that cleared the air of a light but bitter dust that, suspended in the void, had already become a regular companion. Today the dawn was fresh and a deep smell of wet earth pervaded the air. Already stripped of its annoying veil of particles, the sky glows a deep indigo as the sun, in its daily ascent, begins to warm up somewhat timidly. El mes de octubre llega a su fin y los días son notablemente más cortos. Las temperaturas suaves, algunos días incluso cálidas, se han prolongado más allá de lo que la costumbre dictaría como razonable. En un acto de resistencia admirable, el estío ha ocupado ya la primera parte del otoño sin apenas ceder en su empeño conquistador del tiempo. Ayer, sin embargo, el cielo arrojó durante toda la tarde unas precipitaciones que limpiaron el aire de un polvo ligero pero amargo que, suspendido en el vacío, se había convertido ya en un compañero habitual.
