Experimental Collective Housing

This project was made for the Experimental Housing competition convened by the National Institute of Housing, and hence it was thought to foresee the possibility that these buildings would rise in different parts of Spain, so a constructive system of enough elasticity was studied to meet those needs. The proposed solutions do not involve innovation or introduction of strange patents in traditional systems to build, but improvement in the technique of building from those parts that we consider to be easily and even necessarily revisable. Este proyecto se realizó para el Concurso de Viviendas Experimentales convocado por el Instituto Nacional de la Vivienda, y como quiera que había de preverse la posibilidad de que estas edificaciones se levantaran en distintos puntos de la Península, se estudió un tipo de arquitectura y un sistema constructivo de la suficiente elasticidad para atender aquellas necesidades. Las soluciones propuestas no suponen innovación ni introducción de patentes extrañas en los tradicionales sistemas de edificar, sino mejora en la técnica de construir de aquellas partes que consideramos que son fácilmente y hasta necesariamente revisables. We are not supporters of the creation of new industries aimed to solve a certain kind of building, systems always limited and of doubtful results applied in big scale developments, the only ones that make possible its industrialization. We believe, on the contrary, that industrialization must be oriented, on the one hand, towards gradual improvement of the traditional ways of building, and on the other, to the industrialized, serial or modulated production of building elements that, when produced in large number for its application in different projects and locations, provide a safe and profitable industrial production.
