Girl’s Secondary School

With a capacity for 1,000 students, it was developed on a 1 km long plot, on which a voluminous programme was to be carried out, including the building of a boarding school for 350 students and 100 teachers; a cultural centre, consisting of an auditorium for 1.600 people and a musical band composed of two large rooms with a capacity for 450 people each; a swimming school with two units; and a stadium, with a standard sports field and grandstands, and also other smaller sports fields. Con capacidad para 1.000 alumnas, se desarrolla en un solar de 1 km de largo, sobre el que había de llevar a efecto un voluminoso programa que incluía la edificación de un internado para 350 estudiantes y 100 profesoras; un Centro cultural, que consiste en un auditorio para 1.600 personas y un círculo musical compuesto por dos grandes salas con capacidad para 450 personas cada una; una escuela de natación con dos piscinas; y un estadio, con campo de deportes reglamentario y tribunas, y otros campos deportivos menores. As a consequence of the criterion followed in its conception, in the total built area a clear division between different functions is really well appreciated. On one side, the school complex, with special classrooms; the stadium, with swimming pools hall and gymnastics pavilion, with direct access from the street, which facilitates the celebration of sports competitions with public attendance from the outside, as spectators can go directly to the stands; then the boarding school, which is completely isolated and is only accessible from the school complex, through the canteen and the library; and finally the auditorium, to which family members of the students may attend, coming from of the city, without having to cross the school area.
