About House in Corrubedo
At some point between the estuaries of Arosa and Noya, in A Coruña, and next to the Corrubedo lighthouse, is found the town of the same name, sheltered by the great cove formed by large sand dunes that protect it from the winds always blowing there. On the outskirts of the town and bordering the beach, in a totally Atlantic-like landscape, where the architecture that splashes it becomes a consubstantial part of it, the house is located. It is a volume raised on a rectangular layout of 6x9m., supported on stone walls, with gabled roof of flat tile and a mezzanine or “fallado” inside. This volume is covered internally, instead of with tongue and groove board as usual, with plywood phenolic board. The usual program of holiday housing is unfolded inside. At the same time, and by means of wooden shutters located on the two inner faces of this prism, the well-known greenhouse effect is created, which constitutes an authentic “stove” that dries the house during the months that it is not inhabited. So it is reinterpreted the traditional “fallado”: its use as a granary, warehouse or dryer, becomes a domestic place while its “stove” function is satisfied by the glass prism.
