Primary School at Riva San Vitale

This project is the first phase of a school that will be expanded with additional classrooms, a maternity school, and a gymnasium among other functions. The site is located in an area that has not yet been developed, but will become a residential area that will be completed with this school. The current urban or landscape reference point is to the north of the site: the old town centre, the three churches, the baptistery, the end of the lake… a remarkable and evolved unit. The compositional structure is conceived as a spatial continuation of the village and points to its centre. This orientation towards the north, which is perceived as dominant, appears several times, either inside the individual classrooms or outside when looking through the porticoes and staircases. Este proyecto constituye la primera fase de un centro escolar que se ampliará con clases adicionales, una escuela de maternidad, y un gimnasio entre otras funciones. El solar está situado en una zona que aún no se ha urbanizado, pero que se convertirá en una zona residencial que se completará con esta escuela. El punto de referencia urbanístico o paisajístico actual se encuentra al norte del solar: el casco antiguo del pueblo, las tres iglesias, el baptisterio, el final del lago… una unidad notable y evolucionada. La estructura compositiva se concibe como una continuación espacial del pueblo y apunta a su centro. Esta orientación hacia el norte, que se percibe como dominante, aparece varias veces, ya sea en el interior de las aulas individuales, ya sea en el exterior al mirar a través de los pórticos y las escaleras. The six classrooms, four regular classrooms and two special classrooms, together form two buildings, each of which is a unit that can be attached and connected to the next through the grid (7 m). Each building forms a covered foyer on the ground floor, which is a connecting element between the northern courtyard and the southern green rest area.
