Travel and recreation are related to religion, pleasure and romance. This plan signifies architecture for travelers. People move around inside the center which is filled with entertainment facilities.” “Este edificio está basado en la arquitectura metabolista de la célula. Además funciona como un anillo (un loop) de circulacion. Es una arquitectura sin centro, un nuevo manifiesta de “nueva era”. Los orígenes del ocio en Japón fueron la peregrinación y las excursiones: estos viajes de recreo estaban relacionados con la religión, el placer y los romances. Este proyecto está basado en la idea del viaje, gente que se mueve alrededor de un centro al que se introduce actividades de ocio.” The Hawaii Dreamland works with three different concepts that were present at Japan during the 1960s. First, the project attempted to people who were starting to travel at the end of the postwar in Japan. The Hawaii Dreamland introduced them into a new utopian dream of leisure and rest. Moreover, the principles of metabolism are applied to the building: an architecture that can grow and change using the circulation to construct its shape. Finally, Kurokawa introduced nature on his projects, moving away of the industrial aesthetic that prevailed in many of his designs. El proyecto de Hawaii Dreamland está basado en tres distintos conceptos que estaban presentes en Japón durante la década de 1960. El proyecto se engloba en el final de la posguera del país cuando los ciudadanos empezaban a hacer turismo nuevamente Japón y Hawaii Dreamland les introducía en un sueño utópico de ocio y placer.
