The purpose of the Right to Afford series is to open a line of debate and criticism on the current situation of Social Housing through the investigation and analysis of a selection of so-called “Council Houses”, which emerged in London throughout the twentieth century. To extract a global vision of the Serie and not the study of isolated works, we will go to parameters not only purely architectural but sociological and urban. The Allies won after 6 years of war, opening a gap of hope in British citizens after a dark time. Housing shortage was already a pressing issue in the country and its aggravation drew attention to a concept that had been experimented with already at the end of the nineteenth century. With the idea of terminating the London East End slums, Council Houses were born with a simple but complex idea of providing every citizen with a decent standard of living at an affordable cost. Reino Unido, 1945. Los Aliados vencían tras 6 años de guerra abriendo una brecha de esperanza en los ciudadanos británicos tras una época oscura. Sin embargo, aquella larga guerra dejaba tras de sí un escenario trágico. Entre todos aquellos problemas, la escasez vivienda era uno de los más urgentes e hizo que se retomara un concepto con el que ya se había comenzado a experimentar a finales del siglo XIX, la Vivienda Social o Council Houses .
