About Templo de la Patria

Contribution by Alberto Álvarez Agea “Since 1964 my activity in housing design has increased, and later in more important and complex projects. Many of the buildings that I planned and built then were originated in architectural public competitions, others in direct comissions from private clients, consortiums and companies, which were projects located in scattered urban lots, so one of my biggest concerns when generating my proposals was to achieve the visual integration of the new project into the existing urban landscape. This criteria always served as a premise in the creative process and it is one of the most important characteristics to be highlighted in the most successful projects of my professional career. The buildings remain for long periods in the cities, they last from a century to more than a thousand years, an existence of a century or two, constitutes a time that leaves a mark on the aesthetic culture of citizens, so a poorly designed building will point out an architect as responsible for public arts and cultural poverty. “
