One evening, while having dinner in the Philippine capital with anthropologist Fernando Zialcita and other historians of the archipelago, they recommended visiting that town; There I would still find the colonial Bahay na Bato houses from the Spanish colonial period. In Manila, most of them had been destroyed during World War II and the development of the country in the last decades, and those remaining were impossible to visit. Margarita and I took a bus early in the morning on December 29th, intending to return for the New Year's Eve celebration in the capital. After arriving in Taal at noon, we tried to find accommodation in a Bahay na Bato and finally found Villa Severina, a small building from 1870 near the market.
